How to Add a Printer Locally On Master Print Release Station?

To install a printer locally on a Windows computer, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.
2. Double-click Add Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.
3. Click Local printer, clear the Automatically detect and install check box, and then click Next.
4. On the Select the Printer Port page, click Use the following port if the printer is physically attached to the computer, click the port to which the printer is connected (for example, Parallel / USB port) , then click Next.

OR

If the printer is attached to the network directly by  network cable or printing server (eg. HP JetDirect) and has a IP address, click Create a new port, and select one of the following opinions:

Opinion1. Select Standard TCP/IP Port in the Type section, and follow the on-screen instructions of Add a Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.

Opinion2. Select LPR Port in the Type section.  In the Add LPR Compatible Printer box, type the IP address of printer in Name or address of server providing lpd and tape RAW (for most printers) in Name of printer or print queue on that server, then click OK.. (In order to use LPR port, you need to install Print Service for Unix from Control Panel --> Add/Remove Program --> Add/Remove Windows Components --> Other Network File and Print Services-->Print Services for Unix).

5. On the Add Printer Wizard page, click the manufacturer of your printer under Manufacturers, click the model of your printer under Printers, and then click Next.
NOTE: If your printer does not appear in the Printers list, you must provide a printer driver from the manufacturer or select a similar printer from the list. A similar printer is one whose driver is compatible with your printer.
6. On the Name Your Printer page, accept the name that appears, or type the name that you want in the Printer name box. Specify whether you want to use this printer as your default printer, and then click Next.
7. On the Printer Sharing page, select Share as and type the name, and then click Next.
NOTE: Master Print Release Station always uses the share name of a printer.
8. On the Location and Comment page, type the information that you want in the Location and Comment boxes.
This information helps users determine whether the printer device fits their needs. Click Next.
9. On the Print Test Page page, specify whether you want to print a test page, click Yes, and then click Next.
10. On the Completing the Add Printer Wizard page, confirm the options that you selected, and then click Finish.

How to Add a Network Printer on Workstation or Slave Print Release Station?

  1. Click on Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes .
  2. Double click the Add Printer icon and click on Next.
  3. Select A Network printer .... and click Next .
  4. Select Find a printer in the directory  and select the printer on the computer where Master Print Release Station is installed.  Or select Connect to this printer... and type into the Name box, the network path to that network printer in the form \\servername\printername.  The servername  is the computer name where Master Print Release Station is installed, and the printername is the shared name of printer on that computer.  In this example the network printer is \\CZPRS\HP5P. The actual path for your printer will be different. Click on Next when done. (Note: If you can't find the network printer, you may not have access right to the release station computer. You can open the 'My Network Places' on your desktop to find the release station computer where the printer is located, then double-click the release station computer. If you don't have access right on the release station, a popup window is showed up for username and password. After you enter username and password, and go back to 'Add Printer Wizard', you should be able to see the network printer in the list.)
  5. Specify whether you want to use this printer as your default printer, and then click Next.  The printer driver will then be installed on your printer. Click on Finish to complete the installation.
  6. The printer name or icon will appear in your Printers and Faxes folder.  If it is the only printer installed on your system it will be automatically set as the default printer as shown by the tick icon beside the printer. Right-click your mouse over the printer icon and select Properties. This will launch the Properties dialog for the printer.
  7. At the General tab, click Print Test Page to test that the printer is working.  A dialog box will appear to ask you to confirm whether the test print was successful. You can verify this by checking at printer itself. Click OK if the printing was successful.
  8. Note that if you have more than one printer, you can set the newly installed printer as the default by right-clicking your mouse on the printer and selecting Set as Default Printer.
